The smoothing process produces a curve like geometry that looks smoother than the original object and is cartographically beautiful. Smoothing is usually applied to contour lines, but can also be applied to any lines and polygons features.

Basically The Smoothing command is used to smooth the straight edges and angular corners of a feature. The feature geometry is replaced by a series of smoothed line segments. In our application this process is carried out using the Cubic Bazier Interpolation algorithm.
